    Default Makita RP2301 parallel guide

Just picked up this router and exploring options for a new fence /straight edge guide. The one supplied in Australia is pretty short at about 200 mm and lacks an indexed micro adjustment. I see Makita sells an upgraded fence included in some regions and was wondering about anyones experience with it?

Alternately the Bosch fence sells for around the same price and looks to be even more adjustable. I've seen where people have used the Makita fence on Bosch routers so would expect vice versa to work. Unfortunately cant find any available in local stores to confirm.

    Any thoughts or suggestions welcomed!

My Makita RP2301 uses 12mm bars, the same size as my 3612. I can't imagine smaller diameter bars working very well unless you are able to shim the receiving holes in the base. If you want to have a go at making something yourself the bars on external canvas blinds fit perfectly. If you want something off the shelf you could possibly shim the router base holes with 12mm to 10 or 8 collet adaptors that can be had fairly cheaply on Aliexpress.

thanks, I'll have a look around the neighbourhood tomorrow night for similar blinds. I'm sure they wont notice a bit of shrinkage
I was thinking of a 12mm OD to 10mm ID bushing should take care of any slop. Still curious if anybody has used either the Bosch or Makita guide/fence and can comment

Whichever way you decide to go Total Tools can order in the Makita guide, part # 195136-9

I did this back in January 2020. Didnt take long, a few days. Mind you it was pre crazy covid supply chain issues.
