Milescraft Pantograph
Hello everyone, Anyone used a Milescraft Pantograph. My router is too large, Makita with 6.5" base (max 6" ) so would have to buy a new router as well. Any other brands of Pantograph around, all the ones I can see are re-badged Milescraft. It looks a bit flimsy.
I generally want to rout letters and designs .
Many thanks

Router pantograph
Hello
Thanks for reply.
It looks like a rebadged Milescraft unit.
Thanks again.

Never used a Milescraft Pantograph but a suggestion perhaps on the router.
One option for a smaller base router could be a trimming router such as the Makita just to name one, you do have more visibility with these small 1/4 inch bit routers I have them and have occasion to use them from time to time and apart from their trimming function they are manageable.
Then there is the Dremel small based router option.
Of course it depends entirely on what size router bits you have on hand and that will determine which way you go.

The Milescraft pantograph is a 3-d router and only does reducing. Like all pantographs, you need to set it up on a large base board that accomodates the 'master' and the board you are making a copy with. It also comes with a set of letter templates with each letter A4 in size.
It WILL NOT do 1:1 reproduction.
Most other pantographs only do 2-d, but they will do enlarging and reducing.

I have been using one for a couple of months now and it works quite well. It takes a bit of fiddling around to get the setup right, but it is not difficult. I use a smallish Bosch POF-400A router that I bought second hand. It has the advantages of being light weight and the power switch locks on. The whole thing when attached to the baseboard takes up a fair amount of space so you need somewhere to store it..
BTW I bought mine from a USA vendor. I got the pantograph and the Milescraft sign making kit including freight for a few dollarsmore than the local agent wanted for the pantograph alone. Ordered it on the Thursday night, delivered on Tuesday morning.
PM me if you want the details.

Done, I took your tip and ordered the Sign pro as well to help with the freight.
Thanks again for the tip.
