    Default MK3 (WCA001) Workcentre

    I've been told about a MK3 Triton table going cheaply but is it worth buying given it's age and the Triton/GMC situation ? According to the Triton website most of the attachments are 'optional' - can anyone tell me if the MK3 is compatible with the current day accessories ?

    Most people think the 2000 is superior. The big advance IMO was the fence for sawing. If you want a basic table saw and a platform for mounting the router table etc the mk3 is fine. I personally think the mk3 router table is better than the current one but the new fence is certainly an improvment. The router fence fits the slots in a mk3 top so that is nicer than the mk3 fence.

    If it's cheap AND complete it's worth buying. If you anticipate buying a lot of accessories it can work out a lot cheaper to buy a package second hand. A lot of people, myself included, use triton for a while then move on to something else, but it depends on what type of work you want to do.

    Most of them can be fitted to the MK3 (I have both) I think there is one or two that cant, just cant remember which ones (Something tells me the planner attachment cant but thats no great loss)
    I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

    Sorry Guys, I just realised I posted this in the wrong forum.

    I noticed that the fence seemed to be different, unfortunatly it's just the basic table as far as I know.

    I've found that most fittings aren't interchangeable. As Damian said, the fence is "the" improvement on the WC2K. Personally, having owned both, I feel that the Mk3 - and it's accessories - was a more robust assembly. although the WC2K is easier to use. It's no more accurate than the Mk3 though.

    If the price is right a Mk3 is a handy little unit, even without any accessories. After all, should you later decide to upgrade to a "real" table saw, the Mk3 makes for a nice, sturdy, portable workbench for assembly or just working on-site. (I wish I'd kept mine!)

    The planer attachment will fit the MK3 but you need to exchange some parts with Triton (for nothing) for the correct ones to fit it. The same with the bevel ripping guide you needed to exchange a part and pay $11 to get the part to fit the MK3.


    So the answer is yes BUT with the current Triton situation you may not be able the get the exchange parts needed. ( I can sell you both if you want them.)
