Mounting a Makita 3600BR to a Carbatec Router table
I have just inherited a Carbatec Pro router table, to which I want to attach my large Makita 3600BR router.

So here's the problem. This is a big heavy router, and there are 2 screw holes which you can see in the picture on the perimeter of the opening, and it just doesn't seem right that all of that weight could or should be supported by so little.
But, further out are the 4 screw holes that the plastic base is held by, so my thinking is that 4 x 4mm screw holes further out has got to better than the 2 x 5mm holes close into the centre, even though I suspect that this is their actual purpose. I have to drill holes in the mounting plate either way, so what have any of you have mounted a router under a router table done?

The two larger screw points closer to the base central opening are to allow you to mount a plate to hold bushings. Use the four machine screws to mount the router to the table, you can use the plastic base plate as a set out template for the screw positions.

I had my 3600BR mounted in a router table for 20 years using the four outer screw holes.

Many thanks! Very reassuring. I went out yesterday and bought the right countersunk M4 screws, marked out and drilled the holes in the aluminium plate, and got it mounted.
After having owned a router for nearly 40 years, yesterday was my first time using a proper router table. The big disappointment is that I did not do this 35 years ago!
