..Is it OK to trim plastic with a router?
Hi.
I am making covers out of plastic sheeting about 2mm thick.
Can I fix the templates to the plastic & use a flush trim bit with ball bearings as if the plastic was timber?

yep, dont run the router too fast and feed too slow or you'll melt the plastic.

Hello neighbour.
Don't see why not. I've cut perspex with a router bit. Give it a go.

Hell yes !
Our friends at Car-i-tool make bits for just such events.
A control speed router is a help.
And if you need information on the machining qualities of a specific plastic, give Alternative Plastics a call in Melbourne on 9326 5233.If in doubt ......... route.
