With your permission, I would like to show you what I came with. I posted it long time ago but the pics are gone so here it is again.

I don't have the normal "cabinet" router table so a little bit of imagination please.

    Sorry for hijacking your post.

That's a great idea, I am going to try it out then Lee can, perhaps, have his caravan jack back
Actually, the lump of wood is only sitting there when the router isn't running and it is only 25 mm wide, just there to avoid marking the router. The jack is released before the router is started.

    Thank you Wolffie

I have a little bit different "router table" but I'm using the same idea with the threaded rod.

I leave it in place even when I turn ON the router.

I glued (with carpet tape) a piece of metal to the router at the center, in line with the motor shaft that does not blocks any airflow.

When you finish to work with the router, I would suggest to turn the screw a few turns to lift the router a little bit up just to support the router weight on the screw and not on the table top...I think that it will prevent the sagging of the table top due to the router weight pulling down.

    Regards

seeing that the router is sitting in a Triton table (metal) I don't think I will have any problems with sagging but I like the idea very much. Going out to get a threaded rod tomorrow. I was thinking of doing it somewhat like that but couldn't figure out how to raise and lower the router.
