    Default Printing

I have been asked to make a routed sign using Excalibur font, it has to be 18cm high.
Using word I can generate the font and increase to about 400% which looks about right but I can't get the damned thing to centre for printing, it sits off to one side and I only get half a letter.
    What am I doing wrong?
    I am using a Epson R210 printer.

Have you got your left/right page margins set equal?

You didn't happen to hit the space bar after the letter did you? In word if you click on the funny P up in your control bar it will show you if you have.

    Default How to

Iain, send the document to me and I'll fix it for you (I have been using MSWord since before it had a version number).

sorry Iain, but haven't you answered your own question?

As I have often said, one of my favourite oxymorons is: Microsoft Office Works.

If Groggy Can't fix, give me a hoy.

    Cheers,

    P

Space bar is OK no funny P, margins are equal 1/2" I think it was.
Have to create WILLIAMS in excalibur, I have generated 72 point, bold, gone to print, increase by 400% which looks almost right but only get part of image on the preview.
I cannot find any fit to page or similar.
It will be one letter per page as I am using it to freehand rout the sign.
Groggy and MIdge, I will call on you before I reprogram this PC with an axe

It could be a function of the printer scaling. Try replacing the "72" by clicking on the font size combo and typing in "640". Scaling should then be unnecessary.

... or it could be a function of the fractional letter spacing, at the risk of treating you as a complete novice : check for any invisible characters (show invisibles), try right/left/centre justification and see if that makes a difference.

Instead of spending all day trying to work out why, you may (MAY) overcome it by setting a centre tab, and tabbing the letter to it, that should "float" the letter in the centre of the document no matter what else goes on.

I don't know enough about word to know how to set up a "floating" text box, I'm sure you can do it though. So set up a text box and move it to where the letter prints!

(When all else fails, there are two days left in the weekend for you to read the manual!)

I'd like to know what you find out though. (Shops open in 10 minutes, off to buy a sawblade and get stuck into some bits for the canoe!)

    Cheers,

    P
