Rail and Stile bits
Would it be much less frustrating, when buying rail & stile bits, to get the slightly more pricier ones that come with setup blocks.
Not having used these before, I have just rounded over the front edge and rebated the back to accept the ply panel, on my previous forays into cabinet door making.
Or...is it not that much of a hassle to align the bits up correctly by trial and error on scrap wood first.
I 'spose once it is setup perfectly I can make my own setup blocks.
If that is the case I could just buy a half decent set from flea bay.
Any tips from the pro. cab. guys would be appreciated.

I have not made the raised panel type of door, but I have ventured into tongue and groove styles. I would suggest that you can easily make your own blocks from scrap material as long as the important faces are true. I am starting to gather materials for a new kitchen where the cabinet doors will be made from solid wood and I will probably make up blocks so repetition is easier.

I agree, make your own set up blocks. It is also a good idea to run 2 x 50 mm wide pieces through the router and then a 100 mm piece, then assemble them so that you can see just how much of the timber goes into the joint, ie measure it again after routing and fitting and subtracting that from 200 so that you will know how much to allow for in your door construction.
