Default Router plate lifting with router

On my router table I I have a ProRouterTable Top Type C (ProRouter Table Top Type C) and a Woodpeckers Aluminium Router Plate with a Dewalt DW621-XE router attached.

I love the set up with one exception. When I lift the router from below, the whole router and plate tend to both rise together. As I don't have three hands, it means having to clamp the plate down so the router can be raised to the right point.

On my old Kreg bench top table it was easy as the plate was anchored to the table with special adjustable levelling screws etc.

Is there an easy way to secure the plate or is some type of winding lift mechanism a better option? I don't want to spend a fortune on a motorised lift.

    Any suggestions please?
    Cheers
    Ric

    Hi Torb

The plate is possibly a bit loose in the table. The 2 ball plungers can be adjusted to make the fit tighter. Otherwise check the plunge on your router it should be an easy movement.

Call me if you still have problems

Have you taken the plunge spring out of the shaft?

    Thanks guys. Both great ideas.

I will tighten up the plungers; I had completely forgotten about them. I will also remove the springs from the shaft. Never even thought about that one.

Both suggestions should help, another suggstion would be a Router Raizer which would give you above table adjustment if there is one for your model.
