Default Best Router for Router table?

Hi - I have seen some comments regarding routers that don't work so well under router tables, but what is the collective wisdom on the best investment for an under table router?? Assume 1/2' and permanent mount. Also at what point is it a better idea to purchase a spindle moulder? Are their any considerations other than price of purchase and cost of bits?

The Triton 3¼HP router is made for inverted use and has several unique and very practical features, including above-the-table bit-changing, a rack-and-pinion winder with full range fine adjustment and good dust extraction. I wrote a review on one several years ago here which may help.

Triton is definately one of the best routers, but what you are looking for is variable speed, at least 2hp (about 1500w, more is better), screw locking and screw adjustment and biggest plunge as possible. You also need a switch that can be locked on, many routers cannot be locked into "on" position.
What I like is routers with the different sized collets rather than inserts, its purely personal preference, but reducer inserts (1/2"to 1/4") are very problematic especially in the Triton.

If budget wasn't a problem the new Festool 2200 with 80mm plunge would be good candidate (we can all dream)

A spindle moulder is good for very large bits and doing moulding, spindle moulders run at about 8,000 rpm which is about the slowest speed on most variable speed routers, but cutter heads can very expensive but the blades are cheaper.

I know 3 people with spindle moulders, heaps of cutters and they use either router tables or Routermasters with spindle moulders fired up once or twice in a blue moon.

If you are looking to great lengths of moulding with huge cutters or lots of template work, spindle moulders are the go, otherwise a router table is more suitable for the home handyman.
