what sort of things are you going to do with your router, furniture, home renovation, little boxes? until we know what you want to do we cant really help. there's neartly as many routers as there are uses. tell us what you want to do and we, as a forum should be able to provide at least 5 conflicting but complimentary pieces of advice and you can pick out the bits you like. thats how its done around here
Only 5 conflicting opinions - I'd expect at least 7 based on the other posts I've been reading

So far I've mainly used my router/table for furniture making and that's probably going to be its main use. I'd like to get into box making but obviously you can use a bigger furniture-making router for making little boxes, but not the other way around.

I'm a hobby woodworker so my equipment doesn't get thrashed too heavily and most of my gear is Ryobi or similar; but I've used the router in the table far more than I ever thought I would have, so am prepared to spend a little more on getting a decent router.

I'll be keeping my B&D as a hand-held so the new router can stay in the table.

Obviously for a table router variable speed and fine height adjustment are must-have's. The above-table bit changing of the Tritons and integrated dust collection also nice to have.

I'm not sure I need the 2400W of the big Triton, possibly the new 1400W model would be OK. I've yet to have a need for any big panel bits, but I guess it would be nice to have the option.

If it was me, i would go with the big triton, the little one isnt cheaper enough to justify the drop in power, and by the time you buy the addes extras (above table height adjuster) the cost is nearly the same as the big one. big panel bits arent difficult to use and it would likely be something you will go towards if you are doing furniture, if you are anything like the rest of us

    Sounds like good advice. Thanks.

And my wife said I should just buy the big one so I won't ever need to upgrade it later. I've got a fantastic wife.
