    5.8 M3 if you don't mind Basson, 0.09 M3 free space.

It does instill a certain discipline tho, like putting tools away and cleaning up.

Where shall I put the table saw with the sliding extension table?

Lou, refer last but one post, I'm kneeling on it.

Scoots, her name is Phyllis and she is of the feminine persuiasion, think I'm queer or somefin? My rubber duck, who always shares my bath, is named Napoleon. We are both rampantly heterosexual, just choose to bathe together, or rather, I bathe - Napoleon paddles.

Nice table! You said that the top was mdf, how thick is it? I have been seeing tops that are from 1/2" to double layers of 3/4" thick. Anyone have an openion (big smile).

I used 2 pieces of 19mm Melamine (double sided, because that was all I could get at the time) glued with Gorilla glue. I cut out the round holes first and cleaned them up with the router following the Gifkins process. Removed the material for the (square) plate recess on the top surface later. It came out flat enough. I don't think a single thickness would be quite enough, given the need to cut out the recess.

Top is 19mm MDF plus the laminex. It was all I could find without more effort, it should have been thicker but I made a frame of 50mm square Blackbutt, properly joined etc., with members under the router insert recess, so its not going anywhere.

I assume you refer to Napoleon, who is not amused!

I'm off to Professional Woodwork Supplies tomorrow to get one of those lovely table tops. I'm not game to make my own top. The cabinet maybe, but the top, no way.
If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

Gumby I used two sheets of birch ply and went about marking my design on them so when I glued and screwed them together I would not hit any screws. I then laminated both sides - it turned out very well and is totally flat . After Don sent me details of his table I tried to buy one of them in the UK but found nobody who knew where I could get it.
My only problem was that I changed the design and sods law applied - I hit four screws when I decided to extend two T tracks - one router bit for the bin and many sparks later the track was complete.
