The more I think about it I can not see what the advantage of a mitre slot would be, it is only another thing to collect dust. To attach feather boards one could consider providing threaded inserts at stragetic points in the work top and with slotted holes in the feather board for adjustments and or just clamping them to the work top.

I use my mitre track and gauge to run the rail end cuts on any rail and stile bit project. I don't doubt that there may be other methods, but none as quick and repeatable IME.
