Default Router Top for Carbatec TS-C250 Tablesaw

Must be a familiar story, bought new Carbatec Router Lift and Router, made top from 18mm ply, built dust catcher under it and hooked it all up.
All well and good. A month or two later I noticed all was not right with it. There is a concave dip where the Router (and everything that hangs off it) has succumbed to gravity and sagged the top, horribly/unusably. Very disappointing.
Now on search for solutions. As I have both a Carbatec Tablesaw and Router + Plate it makes sense to buy something purposely made to fit both in the extension slot of the Tablesaw top.
Searching here and much wider I can see no offers that make the connection between the two. Sure I can make another one (MDF) but members here offer little hope there unless it is strongly supported. Sure I can make it but it seems to me there may be a solution that fits straight in with both products that will save me a lot of time and disruption.
Does anyone have insights into what is available?
    Would appreciate help here. Thanks

Hi Barramonday, thank you so much for your reply and link. Suffice to say this is the perfect answer to my current router top problem.
I searched til my fingers bled and could not find the solution. Carbatec were no help at all, nothing unusual about that, but the wing type tops I did find were usually the wrong size, very expensive and made of a material that would be very difficult to reshape like cast Iron or alloy. When I say expensive I’m talking +$800 mark.
Postscipt is I’ve signed up to the supplier and ordered the wing top. Fingers cross there are no problems. The website is a bit clunky and some layout and spelling mistakes on it but still seems genuine.
    Thanks again
    Cheers

Carbatec do have a cast iron or MDF table available which will suit your set up

Additionally Timbecon have a similar cast iron TS extension (or standalone) available. This is the one I have along with the fence. The Timbecon top has slots for the fence which is perfect for a TS extension as you are not fighting with the TS fence rails. Both Sherwood and Carbatec router plates are the same from my online investigations.

A few years back I bought this extension for $249... crazy.

The Timbecon extension does need a little finessing as the pre-drilled holes dont line up with the Carbatec TS fence rails. I recall some do line up and others required some persuasion. My set up with router fence removed.

Thanks for the response Samo. Yes thanks I did check out the two you gave links for… Carbatec and Sherwood are both the same in that they are both built for a router table, not extension wing. Also both tops offered are the wrong size for the same reason. To be useful they need to be 685 x 600 as that is the space defined by the wing. 410 is way too short. Sherwood do offer a 600 length but it’s for an 800 width top. I’m a wood shop basically and not set up for metal work except for small repairs and the like.
The top I’ve ordered from woodwork supplies is made to fit the regular wing size for a 10” TS which is 685 x 600. Also the Sherwood inset as you say will also fit the Carbatec one that I have. Looking at your pic they are identical so am confident it will be right.
    Cheers

Hope it all fits smoothly BB.
I've never bought anything from that company but have eyed off various things over the years.
I'm thinking of getting one of their tops to rebuild my router table, their drill press tables look good too especially when you price up all the bit and pieces you'd need to make them.

Thanks Barra, I’d never heard of them until your link. Nice they are so close too.
When the top arrives I’ll fit it and post a follow up for any of our members considering doing something similar.
    Cheers

The top is on its way … should arrive early this week. I spoke to Graeme, Professional Woodworker Supplies owner on Friday. He seems to be a nice, genuine fella and very worthy of our business.
Will make another post when it arrives.

    Default Install

Life got busy there for a while but during the breaks I managed to fit in the router top installed into my table saw wing.
First up the RT arrived in good condition, well packaged and timely.
    IMG_9962.jpg
The physical dimensions were exact and would fit into the wing slot easily. The difficulty’s began when, after dismantling the previous install I began to look for ways to fix the new RT into position. None of the mounting holes on the table saw matched up to usable pieces of the RT to screw into so a new method had to be found, or drill yet more holes into the mounting frame.
Always lean toward not drilling holes into things that already had lots of holes in them I tried something else.
As the existing holes were half covered by the bottom extent of the RT, I decided to try a hanging method used for supporting melamine cupboard shelves.

    IMG_0051.jpeg
Cut a large headed countersunk bolt in half vertically (thread part) and then drill a hole to allow a screw to hold the bolt to the underside of the RT.
The first RT I installed had a cross bar on the outer portion so I reused that here also. Seems stable, straight and matched to the TS top.
    IMG_0019.jpg
The mounting of the Carbatec Router plate within the RT wasn’t a perfect match.
The access hole was a bit too small for the base of the Carbatec plate so I trimmed off some excess with a plunge router. Now placing it into the top I notice there is a gap of about 1mm all around and it sat a whole 5mm beneath the top surface. As the levelling screws couldn’t be extended that far I cut aluminium pieces that thickness and put them in under those screws. Plate levelled up ok though the fixing screws to hold it in place cut pretty close to the place were I enlarged the through access for the Carbatec router mounting plate. All in all, not a trouble free process where many mounting solutions and adjustments need to be made but the final result looks the goods. Is straight, level and will do the job I was after.
If anyone who reads this is contemplating an install like this I’d be happy to assist and perhaps save some time and worry in doing so.
    Cheers
