Setting up a router table questions
Hope the brains trust can help...A new-to-me router has an odd bit clamping system. I'd normally expect a collet nut on it's own but this has a clamping collar as well.
The manual doesn't show the collar or how to use it.
Any advice?
There's also the business of fighting against the plunge spring pressure in order to adjust bit projection. Do people try to remove the springs for table use?

Quick change router collet
Your router has been upgraded to take a quick-change collet. You no longer have to lock the spindle and swing a spanner (twice if it’s a double acting type) you just use an Allen key on the collar and the bit slips out.
Here is a FWW article on them.
Regarding the plunge spring, if it’ s easy to remove do it. Otherwise you can get jacks which sit under the motor to help overcome the spring.Last edited by Chief Tiff; 6th February 2022 at 11:08 AM. Reason: Added link
