Default Source of 5 degree router bits

Hi all, as the title says, I am after some 5 deg router bits to use to make some patterns for metal casting. My router has 1/4 inch shank and the bit can have a flat on the bottom.

The draft angle is not critical but something around 5 deg would be best, any ideas appreciated. I have looked through the usual places, best I can come up with is to use a tapered endmill, though maybe not the best for cutting timber (which is milky pine by the way).

    Cheers.

I've always found Carb-i-tool a good source of weird router bits....

Had a quick look through their cattledog, and the nearest I could find is this thing with 7 degree bevel (see attached). Any use?

By the way, if you actually want to purchase carbitool bits, I've found these people to be very good

laminate trim - combination flush 7 degree bevel trimming

It is possible to buy direct from Carbitool, but they always seem rather surprised when you ring up and try to order stuff.

Hi Mr brush, I may have to go that way, unfortunately the actual taper section is quite small, so it would need multiple passes to achieve any decent depth, I was hoping to find something like a bevel bit with around 20-25 mm of actual taper.

I can get around the shallow depth in software but if I can do it without getting involved in too much maths life would be a lot easier, lol.

    Cheers.

Something like this may be the go...quite a bit pricey but at the end of the day I am only cutting milky pine so it should last forever, unless I run it into a clamp that is...

Just in case anybody else follows this thread, I have ordered this :

    McJING Tools Online

From what I can work out the taper should be about 7 degrees.

Not exactly what I was after but beggars can't be choosers.

I would have liked to be able to rough out with the same cutter but this way I can rough out with a straight cutter then use the taper to give the final tapered contour.

    Cheers.

Carbitool also will make bits to order, might be worth asking for a quote.

That is not a bad idea, if I start doing a lot of this type of work I will check it out.

    Cheers.

Well first test run of the tapered bit today and it works a treat ! I won't be casting this weekend but the pattern looks the part
The part is a spindle holder for my next router.

    Cheers.
