wanted under table router
OK getting ready to put a router in my table, with height winder, whats the latest guff, pros cons etc. Have a large Ryobi works great but no winder and a GMC trim router
perhaps I should add. finally after 12+ years in storage the 10HB table saw is being assembled for the first time, it does have router attachment plate plus I still have the Triton router table and or stand. but would prefer fitting new router onto table saw.....at this time mainly room.I would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

I just posted this the other day that turned into a bit of discussion: AUK variable speed router in an Incra lifter
Chris Parks has some good advice on CNC spindles and a home-brew solution in there too....

cheers, something a bit simpler would be my thinking. Ive seen Eriks CNC setup and while amazing it freaks me out.

How simple do you want to go? My current router table is a bit of a frankenstein but it gets the job done nicely. It consists of a cheap Bunnings workbench, strengthened with 70x45 and a 25mm melamine top.
Router plate is a no frills $59 insert available from Carbatec. Router is a $150 Ryobi and the lift is a simple scissor jack I picked up at Supercheap for under $20 during post xmas sales.

How big do you want to go with router capacity? All three Tritons have above table height winders, above table bit changing and excellent dust & chip extraction. The only real differences between them is power. I have the baby unit for hand routing and the original big burger that only ever gets used in a table.
There have been instances where they have fried their variable speed electronics and as WP says in his linked-to post they can internally glug up with fine sawdust and may need bearing changes somewhat earlier than one would like, but he uses his in a business where it sees a massive amount of use.
As for run out; I personally haven’t had any issues with either of my units. Possibly a QA issue from the factory or possibly just an interpretation of the tolerances; Evan’s requirements are way more stringent than mine.Nothing succeeds like a budgie without a beak.

Chief Tiff is correct.
I can, however, be completely unreasonable when it comes to Nice Gear and Tight Tolerances. Its my melange of mental diseases all combined into a single obsession.
On run-out, one can fix it to incredible tolerances with simple gear at home. A fine grinding stone in a dremel, set up on a gantry/lathe/jig with both the router and Dremel on achieves the most unbelievable results.
Let me find some info on this (it is not too dissimilar to M Wandels TS method: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXFRsmB0_Ec )
edit: cant find the video, but this is close to the method: https://youtu.be/Xd8Ea7NRc4Q .... youll get the idea!

I was in Total Tools today buying a new Bosch Glide mitre saw (very nice I might add) and noticed that they had a Bosch GOF 1600 CE router in stock. It was a round body motor in a plunge base.
I didnt realise we had this model in Aus or if it is a new model for the Aus market but it would certainly make for a good router in a lift if you are so inclined to spend the extra cash on a router lift.
