Trend Dovetail jig
Howdy,
Just wondering if anyone has used the Trend DJ300 dovetail jig & what they thought of it. I know alot has already been said about different jigs but couldn't see anything said about this unit.
Cheers

Hi Woodchuck
I have this jig which is a well made fixed width dovetail jig. It was the jig I bought first before buying the Leigh.
If speed is of the essence and you're not bothered about the mechanical look of the dovetails then the DJ300 will do the job for you. I have kept it as it is great for drawers.
If you want a real dovetail jig then don't waste your money on anything else, just buy the Leigh.
Cheers

Thanks Neil,
I was just trying to find out what I could about this jig before buying a cheap dovetail jig that is of the same design as the Trend/porter cable one. I don't like the woodstock style ones from china as they seem a pain to set-up & the templates deflect under heavy routers I heard.
The jig was only a quarter of the cost of the Trend/Porter-cable ones & I think was infact the cheapest jig I've seen, so I bought it anyway in the end to have a play with. You were correct tho, very easy/quick to set-up & works well.
Sadly the Leigh is out of my price range as I'm just starting out in woodworking with a limited budget. The Leigh sure does look like a very good unit indeed tho & able to do quite alot. I would think well worth the money it costs.
Cheers
