    Default triton MOF001switch problems

This is an older machine I got from bunnings when they sold off their triton stock years ago
I have two of these gems one under this one over
This one has had a few issues but managed to have it repaired so far and hoping to repeat that this time.

The power switch is constantly disengaging - eg switch on and start eating wood and it will go off - no rhyme or reason and its getting to the stage where I'm having to hold it on some of the time.
I love these routers just perfect for what I do - notice carbatec have the 2400 watt job but I'm not really wanting to spend $500 if I can help it.

I mean its just a power switch not rocket science - maybe a toggle could be mounted on the machine - someone else must have had and solved this before.

Just two questions if I may

    Is this easily fixed?

Who could I take it to?

Unless you can remove the exiting switch and search around to see if there is a generic one, you will probably have to go with one of these. Because the sliding plastic window is part of the safety system you won't be able to just put a toggle switch in without doing other work that will disable the interlock. Both sides of generic rocker switches rise the same amount when on or off, whereas the Triton switch seems to be flat when in the off position so the window can slide past it.
If you are going to get someone to do the repair you would probably be better off buying the switch yourself and supplying it with the Router when you take it in. You could try Carbatec now that they are the agent again and say they will support the brand.

I had the older TRO001, and there was a defect in not dust constantly getting into the switch, I think later models had a dust cover

I have the switch assembly for the big Triton, but didn’t replace it, just used a similar rocker switch from Jaycar. Of course this disables the interlock which isolates the motor when the spindle is locked for bit changes. I unplug the router for bit changes anyway.

Mine has lived in a table from new, and has cut many kilometres of mdf so has suffered dust ingress everywhere. As such I have formed a relationship with Tool Spares Online. TRITON

    Ok good one Greg thanks.
Not sure about replacing the switch myself if its not a direct drop in. But the one on the triton spares sites looks to be a drop in replacement.

Like you I always mostly anyway unplug the router for bit changes
