Default Triton Router and Jessem lift

My first post here, so hopefully not a ridiculously stupid question.

I recently ordered a Jessem router lift from the states but it doesn’t work with my current router (it does say MOST routers) so I’ve started looking around for an alternative.

I could go with the recommended dewalt from the US and a step up transformer but it’s a bit of buggering around and I’m also concerned the transformer might stuff up under load.
I see Carbatech here in NZ are selling the Triton TRA001 which I know has it’s own lift system so it’d be a bit of a double up but I’m wondering if anyone else has installed one of these in a Jessem lift or perhaps has an alternative that will work, failing that if you possess a Triton TRA001 maybe you could do me a favour and measure the base diameter etc. so I can see if it would fit myself?

Thanks to anyone who might be able to help.

Hi, If you are wanting a new router, look at this one. Carbatec 2400W Router Power Unit | Carbatec - it is a unit that has the same body size as the porter cable 7518. This unit is a dedicated router for router lifts. I am planning for this one paired with the Kreg router lift. Not sure if it is stocked in NZ.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

I have an older Jessem router lift and fitted my TRA001 to it no problem. You simply need the PCD of the three baseplate screwholes; then you just drill and countersink the corresponding holes into the carrier plate. In a pinch you can take off the black plastic baseplate from the router base, lay that on the carrier plate and transfer the holes.

I’ll get the PCD for you tomorrow.

Hi, that looks pretty good too, not sure how they attach to the lift though, but as it says it’s for that kind of thing I’m sure they explain it.
Sadly, like so many things, not available in NZ, but I guess they’d ship it.

Ahh, just read their T&Cs, they won’t ship internationally.

Sorry; completely forgot to get you the measurement!

The PCD of the screwholes is 145mm

Hi just realised you probably have the lift for plunge based routers. That will not work for the Carbatec RPU2400. This unit fits a number of other lifts that will take a 4.2" diameter body.

Thanks, sadly I already ordered it and sent it to a mate in NSW but of course it’s got lost in transit so now I’m waiting for them to find out where it’s disappeared to.

this whole router thing is starting to turn into a bit of a nightmare, but I’ll get there come he’ll or high water!

No worries, thanks. I ended up going with the Carbatec one, but I’m jumping through hoops now, so assuming I ever actually see it, it might be on sale almost immediately on a page not far from here!
