My Triton Router is sick!
G'day one and all,
I have a Triton router that I use for my under bench routing. It has been a great router and has worked hard. However, now he is sick! The variable speed dial is nervous and does not want to run at the speed selected and varies from high to low during one operation. Then the switch decided to lock up so now I can not switch it on or change router bits.
My problem is not being able to find anyone here in Canberra, ACT, who does repairs along with replacement parts, let alone look at the poor devil. It is sad to think that with such a superior machine (me thinks), technical people shy away from repairing them.
Is there anyone out there (who resides in Canberra, preferably) who can perform this delicate surgery?
Thanks,
David.

In many cases, a dismantle and thorough clean solves a lot of the problems. This is an excellent article on dismantling and reassembling a TRA001. As you haven’t said what router you have, Ray also has the same for a MOF001

My router suffered a similar problem a few years ago. Turned out that the speed controller had failed. I was able to get a replacement at the time through carbatec in Launceston. It would be worth contacting Carbatec to see if they still carry parts. Problem may also be caused by worn/ broken brushes.

This might give you some thoughts. I did have the switch stick on mine some time ago but for the life of me I can't remember what I did to fix it, just remember that it wasn't much as I don't remember having to dismantle it at the time.
Some people have been lucky with their speed control and been able to fix it by squeezing up the spade connectors that connect it to the main machine, but that didn't work for me.
I see you're in Canberra so a contact with these guys might get you sorted.Dallas

That link is solid gold. I shall bookmark it and hope to never need it. (as opposed to not bookmarking it and wishing I had done when our TRA001 breaks some time in the future.
BTW When read the subject to this thread that Cornards' TRA001 is 'sick' I wondered if it was one of those dreadful Americanisms meaning great, sensationally good etc.
