    Thanks Martin.

I had a lot of fun making it and solving a few things with the fence etc.

As Bob38S advised, I've unwound the cord which is now in a big loop on the floor. The unfortunate affect of this will be an interruption to the air flow for the dust extraction.

I always go to the extreme in most things and now all I have to do is fill 8 drawers with router bits, which will take me ages, too long to keep this as a W.I.P.
I make things, I just take a long time.

    G'day Waldo,

Rather than a big loop on the floor, I think you could,

    1. get away with the loop around the bottom of the box which houses the router

    2. cut a slot which would allow the cable to "fall" into the bottom box - use a computer cable fitting for going through table tops.

    3. get a friendly sparkie to shorten the cable - as most tool cables are not really long enough to use on their own and end up with some sort of extension I don't really see this as a problem even though you do lose the moulded plug on the router's cable.

    4. possibly route the cable through the back of the cabinet to the PWS in such a way that you "lose" the excess cable.

    Hope it helps,
    Bob

    G'day Bob38S,

Some good ideas there, I'll have a about them and see what I do.

(by the floor I meant the bottom of the box - I often have brainpharts and can't think of the right words)

G’day Waldo, this is my humble router table I promised to show you. As you see there was a door before but I took it off. I found that with the door closed. There is less air flow, a lot of dust actually get trapped inside the cabinet and sucked inside the router. Not good at all.

Now I connect the hose directly to my lovely Triton router and it works perfectly. No dust left inside the cabinet anymore.

    G'day Wongo,

The idea of the door open to to increase air flow to the cabinet and increasing suction had me thinking a while back that maybe I should put some holes in the door. It's on the same principal as the idea of the slots in the housing for the extraction from the table top in the fence.

That or also leave the door open. I'll test it out.

    Hi Waldo,

Wongo is right on the money there. Just try putting your hand over the vacuum cleaner inlet pipe and check out the exhaust flow.

Have read other posts where Wongo's experience has been the same and the fix was to do exactly what you and he propose.

Let us know what you reckon after experimenting.

    Cheers

I’ve tried it already. I had the Makita locked inside the cabinet before. It was connected to a 2 hp DC but every time I used it there was so much dust left in the cabinet. Trouble is they started to get into the router. It was so obvious.

It is the reason why I switched to the Triton. I did so serious routing this afternoon and there was literally no dust left in the cabinet.

Thanks Wongo. QED then. You're a winner. Top router table with no dust.

    Cheers
