Default What would you rather have?

I was thinking about additional table saw wing which acctualy is a router table that Carba tec sells

    http://www.carbatec.com.au/store/ind...=180_420_19804

This thing would perfectly fit into my table saw and probably save a lot of room that my old (my made) router table is using but than for some reason started thinking about a "woodrat" or a "littlerat" and their versatility. A couple of the tables and beds as well as some other pieces of furniture are on "to do" list.

So experienced users - any "pro"-s ..... any "con"-s?????? Would you (in your next life) buy one again or not and if so WHY? and one general question

WHAT WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE AND WHY (router table with all jigs or a RAT and which one "woodrat" or a "littlerat")?

    Gidday Alex
Personally I intend to make my next router table... I looked at the extention wings and decided against it (one reason... cost of bits to replace after Ive belted the things with the fence ) I ended up as an interim measure buying the router table from Carbetec (the one with the jigs) and am reasonably happy with it... the tables nice and flat the extras are handy and the whole thing is okay

BUT! at the end of the day I will be building one... with a woodpecker router lifter thingy the sexy gold one that would go perfectly with the router fence from Incra have some draws for bits and slide out doors for laminate router storage etc

Aside from the bashing bits threat I aslo thought it would over balance the 10HB and because I do like individual machines I went the way I did

Others dont mind mixed blood machines... some do it due to a lack of room and therefore need to combine as many blood letters as they can to save on what little room they have and some go that way for cost reasons... all valid reasons by the way

I have an old Delta contractor saw that I got for next to nothing, actually as I got it that was about the worth (ridden hard and put away wet). With some TLC and cash I added a Incra TSIII, Wonder Fence and a PRL(the fancy router lifter thingy). Strapped a PC7518 router into it(serious blood letter) and could not be happier. The rat has its place in the world, I just have not gotten to the point of parting with more cash as of yet.
Another thing that I recently added was a WoodPecker plate to hold an OS sander, another space saver, but I don't think that they have that tool available in AU.

I have a router wing on my 10HB.

Pros: main thing is that it saves space.

Cons: it is a hassle to screw on my router fence everytime i need to route, and then pull it off when i need to saw. though it's a qik change over process it still is a hassle. But try and plan for it now anyway, so i get all the sawing done, then do all the routing.
A dedicated router table may have a larger table area, though i haven't found this to be too much of a problem.

I suspect that you will find that those of us who own a router table (either stand alone or on aTS extension) will recommend that and those of us who own a Rat will recommend that.

I also suspect that there are more of us with router tables than Rats. But the Rat-lovers amongst us love their Rats.

Thank you guys for all the input. I still cannot decide which way to go. Reading about "Rat" is realy exciting how versatile thing is, but I still beleive in old fashioned router table the most. "Rat" is not a cheap thing that you can toss in the back of the shed if you aren't entirely satisfied but ......

    I don't know

Regards to all and thank you again.
