Default Wixey Remote Digital Read-out/ UniLift

I'm interested in the Wixey Remote Digital Read-out to retrofit to my UniLift to enable accurate bit height adjustments.

As this is a relatively new product I would be interested to hear from anyone who has retrofitted it to a UniLift. What has been your experience in its use and the installation process.

    Comment, suggestions. advice please.

To boldly (many would say recklessly) go... has been the story of my life.

Review could be sometime off as if purchased it will go into store along with most of my other tools/machines until such time as I can commission my new shed. My move to the new shed is partially dependent upon financial markets and Sydney real estate market recovery so perhaps best not to hold ones breath!

Will these work with a triton router or do you need a router lift? Anyone know?

    Default Works great with PRL-V2

I installed the Wixey on my router lift and only had to drill one hole (they supplied the drill bit). Works great. Two suggestions: 1) make sure you mount the cartridge so there is enough travel when the router has been fully dropped; 2) mount your cartridge with the bracket on the vertical position and not the optional horizontal position. Let me explain in more detail, only one hole is drilled in the carraige, but there are two positions to mount the bracket. If you look at the attached picture the bracket is mounted parallel to the measurement stem (green metal strip). You can mount the same bracket perpendicular to the measurement stem, but the unit will tend to torq or bend when the router is raised and lowered. It works great!

I'm about to be in possession of a Unilift with the Wixey readout. I'll post a review of it when I've installed it. It works with the TRA-001, which will be going into it.
I make things, I just take a long time.

Waldo's right, but let's not tell him it might go to his head.

The Wixey remote digital readout is great for the UniLIFT in fact all new units come 'digital ready' i.e. they have holes drilled and tapped for the readout. The TRA001 gave a few headaches early on as it is poorly shielded and affected the readout, a good customer Alex worked with us and we devised a 'fix' that works and will be standard on all future readouts. Thank you Alex. All other quality routers have better EMF protection and work fine. Electrical guru's pls note this is my terminology of the issue. Hopefully if the TRA001 is resurrected they will address this issue of shielding.

Also, pls note the PRL lift in the previous post is NOT suitable for Plunge Routers & therefore not sold here.

The website (above) shows a retrofit with a TRA001.

    Regards

    Grahame
