100mm Suction hose
Suction hose.jpg
I have a small piece of 100mm suction hose as shown which will concertina together & stay there & also bend into various curves & stay there.
Only one problem. I have no idea how, where or when I obtained it. Can any one suggest a supplier or name for this product.
Thanks

Looks like the dust collection hose from inside my Hafco panel saw. Try Machinery Warehouse.

Once suction is applied (unless the hose in an uncompressed state due to its own weight or because it is stretched) all flexible hoses will usually collapse down to their shortest possible length.
If you can bend it and compress it down to a specific shape and it stays that way when suction is applied then I would suggest you don't have enough suction.
In my testing of hoses I found it's always better to use as short a length of hose as possible.
A short length of stretched hose appears to be less restrictive to flow than a compressed longer hose because longer hoses, even when collapsed down, are prone to vibration which upsets the flow.
Stiff hoses appear to be less restrictive that flexible hoses in a compressed or uncompressed state.
Sometimes you absolutely need flexibility and then you have no option, but if you don't need flexibility then I recommend a stiff hose.

Is this the hose you are talking about Lesterz?

Stays compressed (without suction), stays with what ever bend you place in it, or stays extended?
I got mine from an appliance spare parts business. It’s used on clothes driers.

Hi Lappa,
That looks exactly like what I am after. I will try some of the appliance places in Toowoomba when I am in town next.
