150mm (6") DWV PVC Pipe - Brisbane
Hi Guys,
Just wondering if any other Brisbane based woodworkers are looking for 150mm (6") DWV PVC pipe to build or upgrade an existing DC system?
Cheers,
Simon

So some further details ..... as there has been quite a lot of views.
I got a good deal on a bulk lot of "As New" 2nd hand 150mm PVC pipe over the weekend.
Included in this lot were 6 x 6m lengths and bunch of connectors.
Now i only have a small shop (probably micro would be a better term), and will require a maximum of 2 lengths + the connectors for my own purposes - leaving me with 4 excess lengths which need a home.
I collect the stuff next weekend, and if the condition is as reported I will be looking to on-sell the additional lengths for approx $50 each (I image these retail for $100+).
I will most probably place an ad in the WoodWork Forums MarketPlace in the coming weeks - selling it as a bulk lot for approx $200 - so if you're interested please keep an eye out for that.

I don't know about Brisbane but 150 mm DWV pipe in Perth can be purchase for about $75 per 6m length.
DWV pipe is no really needed for dust extraction as the pressures aren't that high and stronger supports are needed because it is a bit heavier.
Storm water pipe can be had for about $50 per six meter length in Perth and I believe it was a $ or 2 cheaper in Brisbane

Thanks for the feedback BobL.
Out of curiosity - what would someone expect to pay for matching connectors for this size pipe (irrespective of Stormwater or DWV)
E.g.
* 150mm Y connector ($25 - $30 ?)
* 150mm 45deg connector ($15 - $20 ?)
* 150mm 90deg connector ($15 - $20 ?)
Well there is a tidy saving to be made over new DWV pipe (i.e. $100) - but i guess not when compared to Stormwater.
It is excess to me - so could drop the price to sell when the time comes.
I was only looking to make a few extra $$$ to put toward a DC filter upgrade/extra connectors - and help other woodies save some $$$ at the same time!

Well that puts it all into perspective .... thanks BobL.
Still got a good deal on the DWV - but thought the 150mm stormwater stuff was more expensive than it is.

Sorry, I was looking for a live link as we mostly do. I would be interested if anyone can buy at those prices on the East Coast and the stuff would be expensive to courier due to volume. Has anyone bought at those prices in the East because if they have everyone needs to know about it.

East Coast Price of 150mm Stormwater Pipe
Chris, I bought 150mm stormwater pipe (which I had buried in the slab as previously discussed) last December, from Total Eden in Bomaderry, for $65.53 (incl. GST) per 6m length.
Incidentally, our sparkie doesn't have any experience of installing VFDs, so I'll call you shortly to take up Tony's offer of (metaphorically) holding his hand for this, as we rather expected.
Cheers,
Mark

Yes well the story seems similar in Brisbane ... quoted below prices from a local supplier -
# 150mm Stormwater Pipe (6m Length) = $75
# 150mm Y Junction = $28
# 150mm T Junction = $34
# 150mm 45deg Junction = $19
# 150mm 90deg Junction = $19
I also called a major plumbing supplier for pricing, and although their pipe cost was similar their junctions were approx. $5 more expensive than the local supplier.
They both assured me their prices were for Stormwater pipe, and not DWV (I made a point to clarify this).
Or perhaps QLD plumbing regulations require the use of DWV .... I don't know I am an IT man and this is all new to me!

Some other prices:
90o F&F bend 15.24
45o F&F bend "imported" (?=Chinese) 4.00
45o F&F bend DWV 21.00 (I wasn't offered Australian stormwater for some unknown reason)
45o F&F junction 22.64
coupling F&F 30.78
Some of the pricing didn't really make sense, and I got the distinct impression they don't sell much 150mm stuff - pipe was the only thing in stock, although the fittings came in within a few days.

Ouch on those prices. It's very rare that anything is cheaper here in the west where mining companies seem to pay whatever is asked of them. Hopefully that will change soon
Some places only stock some low turnover items in DWV because DWV can be used in place of storm water but not the other way around.

All my 150 mm PVC pipe and fittings came from Total Eden. They were easily the cheapest I found. These prices are now 18 months out of date, but what I paid was:
6m lengths pipe $48.36
45 degree bend F:F $12.46
Wye Junction F:F:F $18.50
