610 or 1220 high pleated filter
Ok - it's time to replace the needle felt bag on the 2HP DC with a pleated filter but i'm not sure if the shorter one is enough.
If I had no height constraints in my shed then the 1220mm would be a no brainer to be honest. At the moment and for the near future at least I would like to keep the DC fully mobile and that will mean i have to limit myself to 610mm high filter to fit under all the rafters and even to get it outside.
or
I could limit the movement to the end with the machines and install a 1220mm high filter and likely still connect the machines i need to, just more of a pain but it will be closer to it's final home.... I have no option to place the unit outside permanently so trying to make the most of internal options.
any quick thoughts?
Cheers
Phil

I doubt that you need any more than the 610mm. You've got to remember that these filters have a much larger filter area than your felt bag and they also have a paddle mechanism to dislodge the internal dust so you can do some regular cleaning with the minimum of trouble. You'd have to get a step ladder to turn the paddles on a 1220mm filter.

A 610 mm improves the flow on a modified 2HP DC with a basic needle felt filter by about 10%, I would expect a 1220mm to not quite double that.

Well my indecision for a number of reasons meant that the 1220 got sold out so i ended up getting the 610 filter

The good news was the Sherwood 500mm round filter fitted very neatly on top of the old Carbatec 2HP dusty and really doesn't need the metal band strap and I actually end up with more clearance to wheel this around

Gday Phil I'm just looking in to this myself. Where are people buying these filters? And what's a good price for one?

I have had pleated filters in the past and recently I decided to take dust extraction seriously and installed 150mm pipe and put the dust collector in an adjacent shed. I also installed a separator and bought some accoustic rated insulation. All up with second hand PVC, dust cyclone and insulation It cost around $900.00. Well worth it.
