Default How to adjust vacuum level

My old Electrolux vacuum cleaner which I use attached to a dust cyclone that is connected to my tools like sanders and routers has finally given up the ghost after more than 20 years. It was my wife’s for years before I took it over.

So I bought a $100 Ozito wet & dry vac from the big green brick place. Only problem is, the 1200 W vacuum is too strong, either clamping the tool to the workpiece or chattering as I try to move the tool.

Can anyone please suggest a way of making a vacuum adjuster that can be connected to the vacuum hose? It has an ID of 35mm
    regards,

    Dengy

Find a smooth surface on the tool connector end of the hose and drill a 8-10mm hole in the connector.
Make your self up a C-clip our of some suitably sized PVC pipe just wide enough to cover the hole. The PVC pipe diameter needs to be the same size or slightly smaller than the connector.
To adjust the vacuum slide the C-clip partially over the hole to suit your requirements.
To reduce the incessant whistling that will probably result from air flow through the hole make sure there are no burrs or sharp edges on teh opening.
In fact "round over" the edge as much as possible both inside and outside the hole - start with a counter sunk bit if you have one and then maybe a round file to smooth it out.

Sometimes a bigger hole or two holes is better.

To get an instant vac boost while using the vac you can just put a finger over the hole.

I should add this is not my idea - I've seen it on a lot of older household vacs
