Derek, while waiting for BobL to reply, I will make just one comment.
By placing his particle counter next to the exhaust of the vacs he is measuring the fine dust levels that have come out of the vacs, but not the fine particles that have escaped the track saw and are circulating around in the air inside his workshop that he is breathing.
A better test would be to place the counter at head height next to where he is using the tool and that would read what he is breathing.
To illustrate my point, here are two readings. The first reading is taken inside my DE enclosure (where the filter is located) taken while sanding at the lathe and the second has been taken at the far end of my workshop after 30mins of sanding at the lathe...
The first reading is measuring the efficiency of the DE at filtering out the fine dust that was captured at the lathe. The second reading is measuring the fine dust in the workshop air that I failed to capture with the bellmouth next to the piece that I was sanding on the lathe.

BTW, the numbers in the right hand column in the images above are in μ/m3. The numbers in the bottom section of the particle counter shown in the video are in μ/L.Stay sharp and stay safe!

I had brief look and lasted to about the 7 minute mark when the presenter used a propellor type air flow meter to measure the air flow thru small hoses which did not inspire much confidence in his measurements.

I wasn't overly impressed with what he was presenting but he seemed to be streets ahead of this guy.
Shop Vac Filter Hack - Make it Last! - YouTube
Scroll to the 5 minute mark if you don't want to watch the whole thing. then watch to the epic, but very predictable fail.
Not only was he stupid enough to dirty his entire shed, he thought it was so funny that he didn't edit it out of the video.
Amazing.
Remember that owning a youtube channel requires no expertise in the chosen subject.I got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.

Well that's been a complete waste of time hasn't it Derek! Apart from post #2 there isn't a single post worth reading.

Sorry Derek, I didn't mean to sound so dismissive in my first post. It's just too easy to knock some of these youtube clips but If there are specific questions or issues raised by the presenter then maybe go ahead and post that.
I get recommended/sent many dust related links to look at on a regular basis so I could spend a lot of time attending to these.
To my regulars who keep sending me stuff I have asked them to phrase requests like, "Here's a clip - care to comment on what he/she's doing/saying at the x minute mark"
This saves a fair bit of time.

No Bob, no need to apologise. This is EXACTLY what I wanted to hear from all. There were a few points that just did not add up in the video, but I am challenged when it comes to reading the numbers. Plus, at the end, he goes and states that he wanted the Festool all along ... as if his figures were not important anyway.
The reason I posted the link was because the results were contrary to expected, yet the testing seemed to be well done (although, as it turned out, inappropriate). Garbage in, garbage out?
