    Default blocked pipe

    Something a little interesting....
I re-arranged some DE pipe a while back, at that time I allowed for further pipe to be added but blanked it off at the elbow for the time being, later I was looking at doing the addition and removed the blank and was a bit surprised to see the pipe nearly fully blocked. Graphic example of what can happen in unused section of pipe and why it is good practice to go around and open gates even if a machine hasn't been used, if left long enough it compacts and can be a bit reluctant to move, BobL found this same thing in his dust particle testing travels.

A small hole/leak/gap in the blank will stop this happening.

Yep - have seen this many times. This is also a good reason to locate blast gates as close as possible to connecting junctions and NOT conveniently down near the machine.

    Hey Pete,

I have a section ready for another Toy hook up, and I will be checking it more often, last time it had enough stuck in there to fill up 2x20 litre buckets and the shop vac, it is about 2 metres long 90mm storm water PVC,
