Clearvue Install
Hey all woodworkers!
Firstly, I would just like to put a big thank you out there to BobL, Chris Parks/Stephen Durley from ClearvueOz for all their endless help and endless amounts of knowledge and information on proper dust extraction in these forums. Everything I have read from you guys opened my eyes to ensuring I set up a good, efficient and healthy dust extraction system to ensure years of endless woodworking.
But enough digression. I have ordered a Clearvue Max from Stephen and it is hopefully arriving at the end of this week, if not next week. For now (until sufficient funds are saved for a shed) it will be set up in my double garage, tucked away in the corner so we can still park our cars in of a night.
My question is, I will be venting the exhaust outside the garage and wanted to double check how I plan to go about this will work how I envision. I am looking to firstly flip the filter transition upside down so it points up to the ceiling, connect some HVAC ducting to it that runs straight up through the gyprock ceiling, through the 500mm or so roof space, and out through the tiles on the roof via something along the lines of a roof valve (see www.austechshoponline.com.au/inc/sdetail/755).
So a. should this work okay? and b. should I run the HVAC into the ceiling space, hang a left or right to gain some extra length in the HVAC, and then up and out through the roof? I'm just thinking of some extra noise reduction so it's a bit quieter for the neighbours outside.
I'm assuming that since this thing sucks air as hard as it does, it must exhaust that clean air with similar force, enough to hopefully push it, and any minute dust particles up and out onto the roof area.
I understand when I actually get a proper shed and move everything in there I'll have a hole in the ceiling - that's too easy to patch, plus it's just a garage as my wife reminds me.
Any thoughts, comments or suggestions?

That should work. A simple Chinamans hat over the exhaust duct should waterproof it sufficiently for the purpose. The exhaust duct has to be at least 225mm, anything less will restrict it and a bigger duct would not hurt though you would need to custom build it which is most probably a step too far. It will also tend to push the noise up instead of out which will be a benefit if you have nearby neighbours. Don't under estimate the noise that a Clearvue makes, it is seriously noisy.
