You can always build your own. We built this right hand 1.63 coned model without too much effort, incorporating rolled strengthening ribs. We used 1.0mm sheet. Currently getting around to constructing a right hand 16" BC steel impeller, then a form ply & Poly-carbonate housing. We have worked out that using a plasma cutter makes the cutting out process a lot easier.

A separate work in progress (WIP) thread on that would be highly appreciated, T91.

    A few questions...

Have you/will you use a taper bush/keyway/screw to secure the impeller to the motor shaft?

Are you planning on doing static or dynamic balancing of the impeller yourselves?

I even took a look at the Laguna C Flux and P Flux, but they are out of stock, probably shouldn't vent back into the workshop, and the manufacturer page tells me "New models coming soon"...

    Dilemmas!
Unfortunately one of the mitigating factors concerning CV in Oz is the transport costs which have risen to unbelievable levels. A CV is high volume low weight product and freight companies don't like that. My feeling is that local manufacture has become feasible and should now be competitive.

I recently had a copy of a Max impeller made as a suck it and see exercise and put it up for sale in the market place and had zero interest which surprised me but it has since been sold off forum.

Thank you to all for the discussion to date - there is much good information in here!

I've just done a quick bit of googling around, and have seem to come across the fact that the Wynn Environmental filters on a CV1800 appear to be a "MERV-15" filter (This page: Accessories and Spare Parts | Clearvueoz.com.au lists the filter cartridge and mentions it's a MERV-15). It also mentioned 99.99% of particles at 0.5 micron.

However, this chart and article: MERV Rating Chart: Understanding 1-20 MERV Rating (For Filters) seems to tell me a MERV 15 filter does between 85-94% of 0.3-1.0 micron particles... even if we take the upper and lower end of each of these, it doesn't appear to equate to 99.99% of 0.5 micron, which leads me to believe that the article I'm reading has an error in the table, or I am misunderstanding something.

Is anyone able to set me straight on this? Why I'm asking is because I have a potential offer of a cyclone on the table, but no filters - and I'm assuming Stephen at ClearVue Oz doesn't have any (though I have reached out to him), so I'm trying to figure out if I can source an alternative set of filters somewhere else that will be up to the job, and allow me to "build" my own CV1800 from alternative bits...

A MERV rating is just what standard efficiency rating the filters have been tested to and met.
The higher the MERV rating the harder it is to test.
However, a filter may well be better than it's rating but they have not been tested using the requirements for MERV.

The latest Wynn environmental filters are rated as follows.
Our most recent addition to this product line is the 35A274NANO, which uses the next generation of Nanofiber Laminate filter media. These filters carry the MERV 15 rating, so they have a very high efficiency, right out of the box, with efficiency tapering off at about 99.999% at 0.5 microns.
The Clearview Wynn filters are supposedly specially made by Wynn at 99.99% at 0.5 microns.

Midnight man if Stephan doesn't have the filters you could use off the shelf or custom made filters from companies in Australia. Here are a couple you could ask. Let them know you are filtering from the inside out if getting them made so they can adjust as needed or if using stock filters make a filter box to move the air from the outside in like the commercial systems do. The CVs come with 600sqft of filter area in total but there is nothing stopping you from using more.

I just had a thought, I know where there are some unused filters that came off a Taiwanese cyclone but it will be a few weeks before I can check the specs on them.

BTW mine is getting on for 10 years old now and the motor has zero issues but it is a US made motor as were the first few shipments before I was forced to change to TECO motors sourced in Oz. I have no idea of what motor is now used but seeing as CV's are no longer sold in Oz (at least temporarily) the motor source is no longer a problem.

Actually now thinking about it the Cyclone at Corrimal Men's shed is in an enclosure along with the compressor that supplies air to their blast gate system and is run all day with no apparent side affects. I have never noted if it has venting but knowing how it was installed I would say not.

I received a CV1800 setup in what may have possibly been one of the last shipments from CV Aus and it was supplied with a 'Techtop' motor TAI-100L-2

The official word from Stephen Durley this morning is that Clearvue is finished in Oz as far as his involvement is concerned and talks he has had with a prospective new owner did not go anywhere so I guess that is that.
