Clearvue VFD Remote help!
Hi all,
I am hoping someone with a Clearvue or similar setup can help.
I have recently installed a Clearvue Max and a VFD with remote control reciever. All bought through Clearvue.
I have had it all wired up by an electrician and he spent a good hour trying to figure out how to get the key fobs (I have 5) to work. Neither he nor I could find any information about how to activate or pair the key fobs to the receiver.
I have spoken to Stephen from Clearvue and he sent me the Reciever installation instructions which I already had. I am awaiting further response from Clearvue.
Am I overlooking something? Did you have to pair your key fobs to the receiver?
Cheers.

Just give him a call - I had some challenges with the Clear Vue setup as the instructions were a bit vague in a couple of points (some assumed knowledge that I didn't have!!) and Stephen did help me out.
I bought my remote from the Auto blast gates team, not from Clear Vue.

Yeah cheers PFH, I called Stephen Wednesday(3x) and left a voicemail. Hadn't heard back so called and spoke to Stephen on Thursday, he said he would get back to me. He emailed through the generic instructions on Saturday morning which I responded too but didn't hear back hence the reason I came hear with hope someone might have had a similar problem and solution.

I can tell you how to pair the remotes but you will need to open the remote unit up and may void warranty with CVOz. Send me a PM if you want to go ahead.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Problem solved!
Big thanks to NCArcher for his knowledgable assistance.
This is one of the reasons why forums like this are so good!
I have been pretty disappointed with my Clearvue experience so far from the missing postage, parts on the motor needing removal which wasn't in the instructions, the rather poor instructions. No instructions for pairing the remotes, flat batteries in one remote. Stephen has been very friendly seems like a nice guy, this isn't personal
I'm sure once I start using it all will be forgiven.

I certainly hope that is the case.
I too found the instructions less than excellent and struggled in a few places. Chris (the previous agent) helped me set up a remote relay (mine is not a Max) and set up the VFD.
Then the sparky who wired it up left with the impeller spinning in reverse. Thankfully, that's easy to fix.
It has been running faultlessly for quite a few years now, and I have only one regret ... I did not buy a Max ... something for which Chris will never be forgiven. Other than that, I cannot fault the Clearvue.

John, I run my 1800 at 70hz these days and the remorse of not having a Max has disappeared. I am having a 16" impeller made for a one off project but if you want one give me a call. I think running yours at 70hz will give you a worthwhile improvement near enough equal to a 16" impeller in an 1800 so give it a go.

Apologies for the thread hijack.
Chris in light of the blade cracks Bob brought up in his thread, Look what can still happen if a cyclone bin is not emptied early enough seemingly a number of possible abnormal reasons for the failure, have you considered taking a look at your impeller to see if it is happy running at the higher speeds?

Chris, I am concerned, just a little, about an increase in noise at 70 hz.
Most of the dust I produce that is not captured by the system comes from the jointer/thicknesser. There does not seem to be a lot we can do about that, given the design of the machine which prevents us getting a lot more air into and through the machine.
The worst of my machines used to be the linisher and the table saw. Now they are amongst the best. Despite never forgiving you for not insisting I bought a Max (so I could leave it at 50 hz and keep it quieter), I am a happy chappie.

Without pulling it apart and not having heard of any problems and if the correct DOR is used with no history of impeller strikes I don't have a concern. It took me a long time to convince CV to apply a DOR sticker to the impeller wrapper to avoid the DOR problem as at the time we were the major user of 3 phase whereas the US used single phase and did not have the problem. The tell tale is a slight whistling sound that happens when the impeller is turning the wrong way.
John, if noise is a problem then a bigger impeller turning at a slower speed is the obvious answer. Most if not all Max owners run them at 60hz for the best performance. I do vary mine depending on the time of day or night for noise reasons, I don't have a neighbour problem and don't want one. We tried to run a Max at 70 and the VFD spat the dummy and we wound it back to 65hz where it was quite happy. Corrimal MS had an impeller collision many years ago but the impeller suffered no visible damage and is still in operation. The details can be found on their website.
I did speak to Bill Pentz on this subject many years ago and he had no issues up to 70hz but was reluctant to recommend any speed higher than that due to the possibility of what would happen in the event of an impeller strike.CHRIS

This is some noise/currents for my setup.
Its only a 13" impeller with a 4HP motor and 3kW HY VFD
Current on graph is the single phase input Current to the VFD.
The Motor/VFD will reach 70Hz with all the BG closed, but as soon as one BG is open the VFD goes over current so the highest frequency it can go is 68Hz.
The VFD is running from a 15A GPO on a 20A circuit/breaker.

Chris and BobL,
Excuse my ignorance, but how does one get an impeller strike with a Clearvue? I'm trying to imagine how a decent sized lump could be sucked up into the impeller. Based on the comments below it seems that if we get the impeller moving fast enough that a lump might avoid the bin and find itself being sucked into the impeller.
If that is the case, is it correct to say that the impeller is driving so much air (above the design limitations of the cyclone) that debris is not being dropped into the bin, and that there is a point where an impeller is too big or too fast (or both) for the cyclone to which it is attached, meaning that at a certain point, lifting the airflow further requires also a bigger or different design of cyclone?

I can't comment on Bob's example but the one at Corrimal has no answer as far as I know. I recalled it was a rag sucked in while a woodturner as working on a piece but apparently there have been two different incidents, one the rag and one a small block of wood. All the details are available to read on both incidents here Corrimal Community Men's Shed Cyclone Dust Collection System. - Automatic Cyclone DC System (weebly.com) All CV owners should read the investigation and what the damage was because they were caused by two different problems.

OK. Got it. Read the Corrimal story.
The bin was not connected to the cyclone when the block of wood was sucked into the impeller. That'll do it.
