Can you let me have the details of how old the product is so I can chase the USA and get an answer for you. I have not sold any of these since taking over as distributor but will follow up for you.

Unfortunately there are non of these machines available anywhere in the world at present. I have not heard of this problem and get a lot of people wanting to buy them so do not believe it is a common problem.

Stephen is going to follow up but I have a question, has it always had this behaviour as I have never heard of it from anyone else. This would be from the last batch I sold just before relinquishing the distribution of CV?

I have a very similar setup and haven't had any problems.
The only difference on mine is I have a 2.25" (I think, same size as the grey hose) suction hose. I have a similar ShopVac with a 1300w motor.

Could the problem be caused by the lid not sealing properly? I have the earlier model with the push on lid.

Does anyone else have a similar issue? I don't like hearing about problems with something I sold and I want to get to the bottom of it. I can't see how a leak would cause the problem because a leak would cause a drop of the suction making it harder for the vac to draw anything out of the bucket. I won't discount a leak causing the issue I just don't see how.

Thanks Guys, Yes Chris, I bought it off you as you closed your business. This problem has happened EVERY time the bin begins to fill, but this latest episode has me flummoxed. The first time it happened, the can was about 1/2 full. The next time 1/4 full & recently, an inch in the bottom has been sucked up. I did contact head office, after the second time & they were supportive, but had no solution & we decided to monitor the situation. I can think of 2 possibilities. 1- When I vacuum around after machining, the hose sometimes sticks to surfaces. 2- Static could be a problem, as I have noticed dust seems to continue to swirl in the chamber instead of dropping into the can. I am a fan of Clearvue, so would like to resolve this problem. Peter

Tony, does yours do anything like this and how full can you get yours before it needs emptying? If the hose is blocked and no air passes through the bucket nothing could be picked up, is my thinking faulty with that scenario?

Chris, I haven't noticed that happening but I really only use mine attached to smaller power tools, ROS, spindle sander, small linisher. They don't make large volumes of dust and I probably empty the bucket before it gets too full.

I'll do a few experiments and see what happens.

With a leak, additional air would be drawn into the bucket and may prevent the dust from dropping out of suspension allowing it to be sucked into the VC.

Tony, my understanding is that it is picking up all the dust that is already in the drum in one go and drawing that into the VC, Very strange! That being the case I can't see how a leak can cause that sort of behaviour. Thinking further about that maybe it could, if the airflow is stopped by blocking the hose and the leak only happened at that time maybe that would cause the problem. If the hose becomes blocked and the bucket does not collapse there must be a leak when the hose is blocked. Peter, check your PM's please.

I set up and conducted a very elaborate experiment this afternoon. Alright, I dumped the contents of the DE on the floor then vacuumed it up with the VC and CV06.
I'm sorry (but happy) to say that I couldn't replicate Peter's problem. I dumped the contents of the VC and the CV06 bucket into the bin before I started but I didn't put too much effort into getting them squeaky clean.

It doesn't look like it but the bucket is just under 3/4 full. Most of the dust in the VC was there before I started so very little dust got through to the VC. I stopped vacuuming because I thought the bucket was full. When I opened it the dust was just under the bottom of the CV06. It stopped picking up because I managed to block the hose with the bigger shavings and a largish stick

Thanks NCA, I spoke to Chris today & have just finished the same test that you have done with the bucket about 1/4 full now & I could not replicate the problem….Go figure.
Firstly, I disassembled the unit & removed 3 of the legs that hold the cone, put bolts in the remaining holes & tried to eliminate all leaks. There is no indication that the bucket would collapse with the cyclone blocked at the inlet. Peter

Let me know if it happens again and hopefully we can isolate why if it does.

I have spoken with the US and their only suggestion was that a leak could cause the contents of the bucket to be agitated and create a spiral effect.

I am so pleased to hear that you have resolved the issue but let me know if it re-occurs.

Thanks SM, I have just sucked up the contents of the dusty, checking the vac every now & then. It filled to about just over half before a handful was sucked through the cyclone into the vac & I stopped. Next time, I will check for leaks that may be agitating the contents of the bucket. Peter
