CV1800 Install (Brisbane)
Hi all
For those interested I have started installing a CV1800.
Hope the following photos and comments may assist others considering a similar install.
The third photo ( photos did not install in the order I required?) shows the basic cyclone mounted in my workshop. I decided to use filters rather that exhausting directly outside. My install is a sort of compromise because although I am using filters eventually the cyclone will be enclosed in a cupboard which will vent into the ceiling cavity. Hence my air will not return to the workshop directly but will vent outside via the roof cavity & whirlybird.
I had trouble obtaining a suitable squat bin for the waste. (Photos 4 & 5) I eventually located a cut down metal bin which is described as 2/3 ( Size 60cm Diam x 65cm High) which fits under my cyclone exactly. Cut a 150mm hole in lid and sealed in a 150mm metal pipe joiner (from Masters)( photo 6). The 150mm Metal pipe joiner is exactly the size to fit 150mm flex duct and slides into 150mm DWV pipe ( Not storm water) While I use 150mm storm water for the main ducting 150mm DWV pipe is used in short lengths where I have to connect Flexi or Blast Gates. 150mm DWV pipe has thicker walls and the bore is close to 151mm. Stormwater is too large in the bore.
The bin has a rubber gasket in the lid and should produce a good seal.
The remaining Photos show the first part of the ducting. Used 150mm Stormwater PVC from Total Eden for the main runs. The bottom outlet below the Dust Gate will connect across the floor to my Table saw using about 1.5m Flexi Duct. The Y outlet will have a second Y attached which will be reduced to a 125mm and a 100 mm outlet to attach to the Band Saw. Remainig connections to Mitre saw, Drill Press, Belt Sander & Planer Thicknesser will be through ducting above the ceiling dropping dow where required (Photos to follow).
Cheers
Ron

Ron,
great post. Even though there have been a number of installs on this site, already there are a number of new things on yours for me to learn and ask more questions
If you use 150mm DWV to connect to flexi, how did you connect the 150mm stormwater to the 150mm DWV. Do you need a 150mm joiner?
Are the two 150mm pipes the same outside diameter and what is the bore of the stormwater? I am thinking that anything more than 150mm may allow a bit more than the 1250cfm quoted for 6" ducting, although 152.4mm is the real 6".
did you need to buy a 6m length of DWV 150mm?
Your bin does not appear to have wheels. Is that right and is that just to do with height of the shed? I assume there is enough flexi to pull off the bin for removal.
As an aside, you went for the 1800 and not the Max. I am still deciding so I'd be very interested in hearing your decision process for that
cheers
Mick

Hi Mick
In answer to your Q's
150mm DWV and SW both have the same OD (160-160.5mm) and both use same size fittings but SW are much cheaper
DWV has a thicker wall and ID is about 150.5mm. SW has a ID of about 155mm.
The 150mm metal duct joiners from Masters have an OD of 150mm and slide nicely into both DWV and flex making the two easy to join.
I just use a short length of DWV from the last joiner to where I want to connect Flexi. See last photo DWV from Bend to Metal joiner. I also used DWV from Y to bottom bend because my Blast gates are also 150 mm OD connections
DWV is available from Bunnings in 1m & 3m Lengths
There is sufficient clearance above my collection drum for me to make a low slung trolley and still be able to slide my drum from under the cyclone ( later project for now)
Yes I bought the CV1800 on Stephens advice. With Hindsight I should have bought the max and run it at 50HZ. Lower noise, same airflow and at 50Hz only requires 150 mm duct because it is same airflow. Would only need one short length of 8" and a Y to make the join.

Ron,
above is excellent for me. It was another one of those things I did not even know I had to worry about . Ignorance can be bliss but it can sure get you into trouble!
That is just what I am thinking. I am thinking of the 225mm or 2 x 150mm to my lathe (which seems to be the most dust causing machine) but that partly defeats the lower noise I can get from running it at 50hz. Either way the Max seems to give some more flexibility for a 'small' amount of mucking about.
thanks (once again)
Mick
