Thanks mate. I think $150 is not too bad becuase it is quite heavy (40 lb).
I just received a quote from them. The total cost of the dust deputy + shipping to Sydney is AUD $180. I think I will place the order soon.Visit my website at www.myFineWoodWork.com

Update on Dust Deputy cyclone
G'day,
I have just placed an order for a Dust Deputy kit with Oneida. I had offered to get 5 and save on the freight but there was no advantage in that - they would just have shipped 5 boxes. Those of you who were interested might as well buy direct from Oneida, and those of you on the east coast might save a bit on the freight from the USA.
The cost for the kit is $99US plus $74.28 (about $199 Australian all up) for shipping by USPS who use train/road in the states and Australia and air freight across the Pacific.
Once I get mine I might look at importing the cyclone and making the rest of it - the drums, adaptor, hose etc. - but I just wanted to see the finished product first.
Oneida's website does not handle orders from outside the USA, so I sent 3 emails containing my credit card details. I will let you know how that works.
Thanks to those who expressed interest and sorry I can't help but there really was no benefit to anyone to do a bulk order, and having them delivered to Perth then sending them back to Sydney or Brisbane seemed a bit silly.
I will let you know as soon as it arrives, and of course, how well it works.

Put a plastic bag in your bucket.
introduce vacuum between the bag and the bucket as in these images. The looped hose at the bottom of my 30 gallon drum has 1/8" holes drilled every couple of inches (facing the bottom of the drum).Holds the bag with negative pressure. When the bag is full just tie up and replace with a new one(no dust in your face when emptying bucket into a bag. .Works like a champ!

Ripped off by the bank
Jeez Wongo,
You got off lightly. I just checked my Visa statement online and it shows an amount of $291.20 for my Deputy!!
But mine arrived today Wednesday at 4pm. Very well packed and no signs of damage. I signed up for a tracking service that USPS offer, and that shows:
Electronic shipping info received 18/9/09
Arrival 24/9/09 at 5.00AM
International Despatch 24/9/09 at 5.04AM
So it looks like the Deputy sat in a warehouse for 6 days until they filled up the container with stuff for Oz. And then 6 days from New York to Perth is not bad.
Might send my personal F-111 next time though.
And I WILL be calling the bank to see how they worked out the price - I calculated about $190 Aust. for the Deputy AND freight!!!
I won't be able to play with mine for a couple of days so let me know how yours works and how you connected it up.

What? $291.
I gave it a good workout. It collected 1/3 of a bucket of dust. Checked the Shop vac and there was nothing in it. Took the cartridge filter out, brushed it and there was only a tiny bit of fine dust.
I am impressed.Visit my website at www.myFineWoodWork.com
