cyclone extraction
Hi can any body tell me if a 3hp motor on top of a cyclone would pull material from 15mtrs away? Could i boost it by putting another blower inline?
thanks in advance Chowcini

Sturdee had a thread a couple of years back now (I think, or was it from a visit that he showed me the set-up )
But he put in something like a second motor along the line which helped greatly. I've thought about it myself at times, one day I might do it. Have a search and you might find his thread. If I'm wrong and it doesn't exist then Sturdee may well see your thread here and give some advice.

At a bit of a guess I'd say yes, but with these considerations... smooooth wall pipe of large cross section, 150mm at least probably 200 at best, long radius bends, smooth transitions, least amount of corrugated/flex hose, as possible, should be able to google resistance to airflow and get a chart showing flow loss per metre of pipe.

I have used 5" vac hose from the dust extractor with a 4" reducer at the machine end. I find that this improves airflow quite a bit over 4" hose for longer runs.
I have also read about the booster blower on a USA site I think. Looks like a great idea and it shouldn't be too costly if you use one of those under bench 1 hp blowers.
