Dust collector mod with integrated cyclone
Gday,
Ive been using this modified dust collector for about a year or so now and thought I'd share because it really is a ripper.
I wanted a cyclone but didnt want to go down the route that I have mostly seen where the cyclone is a separate unit. So took the top section off my dust collector and made up a new base incorporating a cyclone and a collection box and mounted the fan etc on top of that.
The whole thing is on wheels and it works beaut. I'd estimate that >95% of everything sucked up (and eveything that is a bit heavy like small bits of wood) drops out in the cyclone and never goes throught the fan at all.
Becuase of this it can suck up some decent size stuff, up to ~2" square block of wood.
Here are some pics and a dodgy one-handed video that hopefully show the design better that I could expalin it.
