Carbatec operate franchise type arrangements with some of their stores. They would import the Oneida gear cheap, take a hefty markup on sales to the retail stores who in turn need to make a profit. This means there are 2 middlemen imposed between Oneida and the customer.
The problem is that even the Taiwan/ China made motorized models are sold here at greatly inflated prices when compared to the same models sold overseas. There is no competition from other importers or Aussie manufacturers in this market segment so Carbatec can do what they like.

Good Morning All
I thought a couple of the forum members were being a little precious in their comments on pricing by carbatec so I had a look at the oneida website in USA.
Oneida Air Systems - Dust Deputy
Prices are:
* DIY Dust Deputy (Cyclone only, no bucket or hoses) - US $59 . Not catalogued by Carbatec.
* De Luxe Kit (Includes cyclone, bucket and hoses) - US$99 - Carbatec Aus$189.
* Ultimate kit (Includes cyclone, big square box and hoses) - US$249. carbatec Aus$449.
* Super Dust Deputy (Larger cyclone only) - US$219. carbatec Aus$549.
As soon as you mention Australia Oneida just refers you to Carbatec!
Pacific freight must be expensive!!!
Cheers
Graeme

Correct. Freight for the super deputy is more than the cost of the super deputy itself. That is why I got it from CT.

But they do post to MYUS.com which is where I got mine sent along with other items, the only problem is that dimensional weight applies to the super dust deputy, still worked out $100 cheaper than buying from CT

Thanks Wongo
Found a USA site that will ship an Oneida Dust Deputy de Luxe (the smaller cyclone with bucket and hoses). - Rockler Woodworking & Hardware.
US$99.99 Oneida Dust Deputy De Luxe.
----73.65 Priority Mail International (7-21 days delivery to Aus)
US$173.64 TOTAL
------8.68 Credit Card Exchange Fees (say 5%)
Aus$182.32 Approximate Cost landed in Aus.
This is remarkably close to the Carbatec price of $189.
Wonder if the freight rates are similar for the larger Super Dust Deputy??
Cheers
Graeme
