Thanks Al,
spent an hour or so in the shed this arvo, cleaned up the old marples marking gauge I picked up in Brisbane, and started to lap the back of a 3/4" bevel edge socketed Titan chisel, also picked up an old eclipse saw set that I will have to learn how to use. I have to go steady for a while, so I have to just tackle little jobs for now

Well I've finally spent a bit of time on the ducting for my cyclone. I have used 150mm stormwater PVC. (not as flash as Al's I'm afraid ).
Got some 150mm flex from GPW, they had some plastic blast gates to suit also , so I got 2 to have a look at, they looked ok, so I have put them on the jointer and thicknesser. Made up Mdf/ply ones for the rest.
Gave it a test run on various machines this arvo, I'm impressed with the performance, better than I thought it was going to go. Will post some pics at a later date. (when I clean up the shed )
Back down to Brisbane for some more treatment tomorrow (radioactive iodine treatment this time   )

Heres a few pics of the ducting, to my machines. (dont look too close, as lots of bits aren't finished off yet, the rope holding the pipes up will be replaced with metal strapping soon).
The blocked off pipe above the lathe will be extended to hook up to the SCMS when its dustbox is finished.

The Hoses to the router table are also shared by the bandsaw, they are swapped over to whatever is being used at the time, if this proves to be a pain I will change them to dedicated hoses later on.
I am in the process of making the cyclone turn on/off by remote control, see the thread I started, "remote control switching of DC", if you have missed it. Lots of good ideas people are coming up with.

Here are some pics of the blast gates that I made.
I used 25mm MDF and 6mm hardwood ply.
This one supplies the table saw.

This is the dustbox for the SCMS which is in progress at the moment.

Gotta say your system really sucks!(which is good)
All that 150mm must've cost a small fortune, IMHO if you go with metal straps it will transfer noise/vibration to the shed structure?....................................................................

Fantastic job with the ductwork Brad. Well done.
I honestly dont think you should have any problems with transfer noise or vibration using the metal strapping to hold you ducting up. (Sorry Harry) The PVC should absorb the noise and vibration.
I used Metal Brackets to hold my Metal ductwork up and have not noticed any excess noise and vibration. Although I did place some rubber pads between the ductwork and purlins where possible.
(Most of the noise comes from the Motor/Blower)Regards
Al .
You don't know, what you don't know, until you know it.

I might look at putting insertion rubber between the PVC and the metal strap, just in case.
Finished off the dustbox for the SCMS today and hooked the ducting up to it. Seems to work very well with the short test I gave it.

I know it's been a while, but I just emptied the drum for the first time today. I could hear sawdust swirling in the cone when I turned it on, checked the level and it was chock-a-block.
After using the new dust system for a while now, I find that the workshop stays much cleaner, I am very happy with the results.
