I tested the bottom bag by sticking (with spit) some small pieces of tissue on it and running it, I'm not getting any air through the bottom bag.
The benifit using a plastic bag on the bottom it is easier to see if its full but I am finding the standard bag quicker to change and therefore more convenient .
I'm also using a separator bin so the bag does not need empting as often.

I just picked up some small bags for the 350mm diameter aperture and tried it today. They fit and are filling ... I'm just unsure why H&F fit the fabric bag to this model. I used my mouth to suck and blow through the fabric, and I found it almost identical to the top bag ... so I don't understand. I might try your trick.
I've found a local industrial filter supplier who's happy to sell me very cheap high quality HEPA and other filters to make my own air scrubber. With a second hand fan, I thin k I can clean the sub 1 micron particles from the air for about $100. If it's successful, I'll post a plan. I got the idea from another forum member.
Cheers,

Does the inside your bottom bag look like plastic?

Yep ... it's got a plastic film on it, but it's a serrated or abraded finish, not a seamless impervious or continuous film. It's certainly porous, but does have plastic on it. The entire bag is like this, so it's not a mistake, it's the nature of the bottom bad I suspect and it's different from the top.
What's yours like?

I recently bought the Hare and Forbes DC-30 2 HP and it’s marvellous. It retails at $313 and they gave me a discount as I had purchased a Bandsaw as well……Great guys and great service there and the machine is very powerful.

I see it has the plastic bottom bag to start with. The DC-60 has a cloth bag. I've put plastic ones on, but I'm concerned that somehow the cloth bag is integral to it's operation. H&F have not replied to my inquiry.

H&f dc40
I had a slight change of plan yesterday and picked up the H&F DC40. I am looking at putting it through it's paces over the weekend. It will be nice to get some dust collection happening in my workshop, apart from my poor old Triton dust collector

DC-40 Question
I just assembled the unit and it works well, but is it supposed to come with a hose? I don't have any 4 inch hose and am stuck without it at the moment

Bugger!
Bugger! It's on the assembly diagrams and the parts list. Looks like I'll have to buy a kit.
Thanks,
Craig
