Dust Collector Bags Quality Issues
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has had any issues of late with their dust collector bags? I've recently purchased a new stack of bags from carbatec and my first thought when I installed one was..."these are thinner than before" didn't think much of it till about a week later when I noticed small piles of dust building up at the vent and a nearly completely empty bag with a hole in it.
Thought might have been a bad bag, or must have snagged something. Replaced the bag which seemed to be fine till I went to empty the half filled bag to notice the bottom had split similarly to the last one. But this time round, it obviously had enough dust in the bag to partially seal it rather than spill out all over the place. Still plenty of dust in the enclosure.
I have since found my old stash which I had misplaced and confirmed my suspicions that the newer bags are probably half the thickness of the older bags.
Those who buys the bags knows they are not cheap. But if that's all Carbatec have, then taking it back isn't going to do me any good. So don't know if it's even worth kicking up a fuss about it.
So anyone else having issues? Or did I just get a bad batch.

Funny you mention this - yes my last lot of bags were much thinner than previous purchases. Two have developed mysterious vertical splits in the bag & I'm 100% sure that I have not damaged them. Carbatec do not list the thickness of the bags they supply, though I suspect they are 75 um.
In the last few days I've been looking at various options in 100 um & 150 um thickness LDPE bags. As a stop gap I have used a HD large shopping bag from a major sports retailer & its working OK so far today.Mobyturns

I have just bought new bags for my Hare & Forbes DC and felt they were thicker than the last lot, but that is just a impression as I have not measured. Hmmm.. Interesting

I just measured the thickness of a new pack of Carbatec 500mm diameter extractor bags and they were 100um (0.1mm). The new bags have the Carbatec logo printed on them.
I also measured an old bag I purchased from Carbatec at least a year ago (no printed logo) and it was also 100um. The plastic felt the same.
The measurements were done with a pair of 0.01mm resolution digital calipers.
