Dust collector vs Workshop Vac
Hi,
I have a small workshop/garage with mostly portable equipment (routers, cutoff saws, thicknesser etc.)
As I am using MDF a lot the dust is becoming a real problem.
My question is would I be better with something like as a 1hp Portable Dust Extractor with the hose reduced down to portable tool size fittings or get a workshop vacuum like the Hoover GV01
Thanks for the advice
Regards Robert

Basically, a DC is best for larger tools with big (4"ish) dust ports and a shop-vac for any hand-held tools with small (2"ish or less) ports.
Choking down a DC reduces it's efficiency terribly, as it works more on the volume of air moved than the vacuum... This has been discussed to death here, a search should give more info than you can poke a stick at.

Go to our videos section and get a copy of the Mini cyclone dust extractor.
Skew is correct in what he says. But whatever you do, do it fast. That MDF dust is bad news.
