    Both. To maximise the flow I would use a mesh rather than holes like that.

    Billylad I have a similar sander to you, used to have it connected to the shop vac which was a waste of time, I now have it hooked up to the 2hp dusty via a 50mm hose and it now sucks like the proverbial h**r on pay nite. Not much mess at all, but having said that I only use it outside the workshop and still wear PPE when using it.
