dust extraction Q
OK my Q are thus. If Ive got a 100mm Y from carbatec or similar place why is SO it different from 100mm PVC pipe as in pic 2
Pic 1 is the outlet from my Ryobi jointer going into a 100mm elbow
Why the big difference and how do I overcome it.
Ive only got a GMC dusty at the moment and until we get our own place thats what I stay with. But Ledacraft have a 'quick connector' how do these work and are they worth buying. If so how mant do I need with a jointer, bandsaw, thicknesser and Triton with 4" throat added to the base of it.
thankyou again oh learned gentle people for your intelligent answers (Iam sure dumb ones will come in too but ithats cause we dont read the Q correctlyI would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

I wrapped a thin strip of the foam carpet underlay ( ofcuts available from any carpet store) around the black fittings with duct tape. It then slides easily and firmly into the sewer type fittings and can be sealed again with duct tape.
Cheap and can easily be adjusted if changes are required.

I'd be inclined to get a short length of straight PVC pipe to fit, fit it in and then cut it flush to the end of the wye.
By looks, the inside dia. of that may match the outside dia of the black pipe. At the least it'd take up most of the slack so you could simply use duct tape for a seal.
(Don't glue! It makes things too hard to change if/when you change your duct run. And you will. Oh, yes! Wish I hadn't glued... )

Thats great. Tried off cut of flexi pipe in the PVC elbow then pushed onto the thicknesser, then the main flexi pipe can push into the other end.
Also used Sturdees idea on another part that also works.
Are the 'quick connectors' worth it?I would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

melting pvc
I hold the pvc over the oven in the kitchen untill it gets to the melting point and then mould it to the size you need ,this may take several attempts. You must have a fire extinguisher ready just in case.
