    Default Dust extraction hose size

    Hi
I have bought a 2hp dust extractor and have connected it up to my table saw, my mitre saw and my thicknesser, using 4" hose. The machines are about 2 metres apart, so I have a fair bit of hose. Would I be better to go for a small diameter hose to get better suction. I have got cut off gates at each machine.
    Regards Andrew

    G'day Clarky,

Don't go less than 4". The smaller diameter hose the more restrictive the flow rate of air.

    Hey Clarky,

Like Waldo said, don't go smaller than 4", If you can, use PVC pipe instead of flexible hose, you get better flow. Run some piping along the wall or up and through the roof space and just use short flex bits to connect to the machines. and 45 degree bends and 'Y' s not 'T's, its all about flowI use 2 x 45 and a short pipe instead of a 90.
