Best dust extraction unit?
High all
I am in the process of fitting out a workshop with a combination saw (possibly) and wanted to know what anyones thoughts were on dust extraction units. I have been looking at Felder AF22 (3 Hp approx $2700 +GST) and their clean air RL160 (4 Hp approx $7000).
The workshop is approx 20mtrs x 9 mtrs x3.3 mtrs and wanted to get the most out of every doolar i spend. I dont want to spend that sort of money if i dont have to, but at the same time want to make sure i get the best unit for the money i am spending.
I do use MDF so would like to make sure i can filter out as much as possible.Another question is that i have upgraded the overhead saw guard which i have been told will capture more of the dust. Price is about $1300-1400 to do that. Just wondering if i might be better off with a standard saw guard (that comes with the Felder saws) and possibly spend that extra on the quality of a dust extractor if necessary.
Only reason i have been looking at the felder range of dust extractors is because i would like one of their saws so if there are any other brands worth looking at, i would really appreciate a point in the right direction.
Thanks

Hi HTM,
I had a look at the RL's on Monday amazing machines, a completly different league to anything else i have seen.
If you had no choice but to vent the air in the workshop i'd go an RL. If venting or placing the dust collector outdoors is an option i would look at a larger cyclone but dont forget to factor in the cost of the ducting as it might end up more than the RL.
