    Default Dust extractor can/barrel?

Is there such a thing like the 15/20L paint tin I use with my vac but for a dust extractor and about 80L. Something with the same or similar snap lock ring. I want to use it with the large cyclone I bought.

I know there are olive drums but those things are pretty heavy and smooth/difficult to pick up. Any other options?

You can build one out of ply or MDF and custom design it's size, height etc, I use a 204 litre plastic drum for mine. If you choose to build it the container must be air tight so a sealant in the joints is wise.

200 litre (44 gal) drums with ring lock are reasonably easy to come by. Search Gumtree, eBay and Facebook Marketplace. Whilst smaller sizes do exist they're much harder to come by and pretty exxy if new.

If you live in an area where fruit and berries are grown there are usually surplus barrels for sale that held fruit concentrate that can be had for deposit prices. Those would be full size but it isn't hard to bolt on some handles and empty them before they are full.

Other businesses like bakeries sometimes get flour in cardboard kegs and barrels.

I was told undercoating places have 10 gallon size kegs with plastic liners that can be removed leaving a clean barrel. You'll have to make your own lid from plywood or MDF. I haven't checked them out around here yet.

There are some industries that get chemicals like isopropyl alcohol in them that would be safe to use after they get a chance to air out.

Pagkaging suppliers sell new drums and kegs in steel, plastic, cardboard and even stainless steel if you want shiny and expensive. They cost more but are clean and safe.

If you aren't using a really big DC like a Clear Vue Max you might get way with using a heavy duty garbage can.

Check out your local for sale sites like Kijiji, Craigslist or whatever you folks have there.

    Happy scrounging

I'm currently in the market for exactly the same thing to mount my 5" Oneida Super DD to. 200L drums are easily obtained but are way too big for my purposes. I've given up looking and will make one from 12mm plywood. Internal volume is just over 75L. You'll obviously lose some of that when you cut the lid section off. If you make the pieces 190 wide the internal volume is around 95L.
