I used an online template maker which I cannot for the life of me now find, here is something similar which requires a little more manual input:

This will give you the curve for the branch pipe, once cut and smoothed you can transfer the shape (internal) to the main line.

I ended up cutting the curve and then using the main line with some sandpaper wrapped around the pipe to smooth the end of the branch off. Ended up with a fairly seamless connection. Next cut into the main line, smooth and glue the two pieces together. Use sealer to close off any holes.

I used a craft glue gun of all things which worked really well and the glue acted as both glue and filler. The initial glue job was a little untidy but I used the heat gun to heat the glue up afterwards which smoothed the glue line.

May not be the best method if you plan on putting weight on the branch, mine is attached to a dangling flexi-pipe.
