Planning the 2hp upgrade - Cyclone suggestions
Hi all,
I am planning to buy a 2HP dusty as i want to get a 13in thicknesser and a 14in bandsaw.
what I have decided so far:
- i will buy a generic 2HP unit from H&F and do the modification of the inlet as recommended in this forum
- will also get a pleated filter
- the unit needs to be in my shop (no chance of moving it outside). However I have forced ventilation with theoretically more than 20 changes per hour. this works so well
- I will run a 2m flex hose to the machine that is being used
My question is:
- should i go for a cyclone? I fear that this would reduce my CFM considerably so is it worth it? Currently i have a cyclone with my shop vac and I love it but i am after good performance considering that i will install the 2hp beast inside my tiny shop.
- If a cyclone is the best way to go, is there a commercially available cyclone for 6in? I have only seen the very expensive deputy for more than 300 bucks.
thanks in advance for your answers

Yes a cyclone will reduce initial airflow hence reduce fine dust uptake.
Given you have forced ventilation it probably doesn't matter so much.
2m of flex will also stymie your air flow - I'd try to reduce that as much as possible - even if you make just a part of it solid PVC.
